On Tuesday, San Francisco Supervisors Dean Preston and Hillary Ronen introduced legislation that would would decriminalize use and possession of psilocybin mushrooms and other entheogenic plants such as mescaline.

Two San Francisco supervisors on Tuesday proposed legislation to fund a three-month pilot program providing free public transit to boost San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency ridership, which plummeted during the COVID-19 pandemic. The legislation, authored by supervisors Dean Preston and Matt Haney, would provide one-time funding for the program and aims to incentivize using public transit over vehicles as residents get back to work.

Supervisor Preston says the voters in San Francisco made Social Housing a reality in November by passing Proposition I.

The incoming supervisor has yet to move into his second-floor office in City Hall or solidify his staff. But he’s already making plans to meet with residents and elected officials to try to jump-start his key proposals. Those plans include opening a homeless shelter in District Five, creating 10,000 units of affordable housing in 10 years, and eventually making Muni free for all.

More than a dozen activists gathered in the Golden Gate Park Panhandle today as “Our Revolution,” a political organization founded by Bernie Sanders, announced its endorsement for Dean Preston for Supervisor in District 5.
